I did do a little research before hand to make a decision about what garden I wanted to work in; otherwise I would have wondered for hours simply looking and photographing. I started with my easel and drawing pad in the shade, but that changed. Check out that beautiful tree shadow on the rock (third photo).
Evening outing with OPAL, Ohio Pastel Art League in Uptown Westerville. After meeting at Sunbear Gallery, we walked out to the street to find a subject. I found this small old garage almost hidden by plants. The late evening sun came out and shown very dramatically on the garage. The first sketch I did on site. The other drawing was larger studio pastel titled "Best After Hours".
What a wonderful and beautiful yard. The sunflowers cast a beautiful pattern on my drawing pad; again I had started in the shade.
So many animals, plants and buildings to draw. I filled my sketchbook with half a dozen sketches.
