I create black & white artwork in pencil, charcoal, and pastel; working in my studio and occasionally on location drawing a variety of subjects, including landscapes, still lifes, animals and figures. I believe light, value, composition and line are important in telling my story or conveying a feeling on my view of the world; from the smallest bloom to the largest landscape. My art is a way to connect with the world around me. I live and work in Columbus, Ohio; am the co-owner, along with my husband/artist Kevin Buckland, of Buckland Gillespie Design, a graphic design studio and co-chair / planner of the Art At The Arnold; a three day art competition that is held annually during the Arnold Sports Festival.

Reading - a little of everything, historical fiction, sci-fi and an occasional biography. I prefer to read the book first before seeing the movie.
Gardening - Nothing more relaxing then digging in the dirt and connecting with nature. And what joy to plant a seed and then admire the bloom or enjoy the taste of fresh produce
Music - jazz, 70’s rock, classical and I listen to lots of drums (Kevin is a drummer)
Visits - to museums, art galleries and historical sites
Favorite vacations - head east to the coast, Blue Ridge Parkway, forests and mountains
Born in York, PA. Came to Columbus, OH to attend Columbus College of Art and Design / graduated with a BFA
